Tyler Perry: Slapped With Another Gospel Copyright Lawsuit

Tyler Perry's impeccable talent for theater and screenplay has catapulted him into the height of Hollywood's elite fleet of producers. Not to mention, the New Orleans native has a distinctive ear to detect and mesh the perfect song to compliment his various projects.

However, not everyone is thrilled with Perry's work, especially if they're being ripped off as one songwriter recently claims
According to TMZ, a lawsuit was filed by Johnny Tyrone Stringfield on Feb. 3 in a Los Angeles federal courtroom, stating the 'Diary of a Mad Black Woman' creator lifted the lyrics from his 2008 copyrighted song titled, 'I Got Away.'
Apparently the gospel track was used in an 2009 episode of Perry's TBS network series 'Meet the Browns,' in which Stringfield states several of the show's characters belted out the lyrics "The Devil thought he had me ... but I got away."
And Stringfield is not letting Perry get away with it, either.
The songwriter wants Tyler to fork over $100,000 to make sure him and his legal team stays away. And from the sound of it, he's already two-stepping to his own beat. "My family and I have always loved Tyler Perry -- and now we're going to love him a whole lot more," he told TMZ.
(You be the judge: check out the similarities between the two songs here.)
To Perry's dismay, this isn't the first time he's being slapped with a copyright infringement lawsuit. Last year, he was accused of using portions of Bertha James' 1950 Gospel track, 'When I Think of the Goodness of Jesus' and incorporated it without permission in his hit film, 'Madea Goes to Jail.'
TMZ reported that the song's chorus was used within a monologue spoken by lead character, Madea.
Lionsgate Entertainment, who distributes Perry's movies, were also named in the suit, which seeks unspecified damages in excess of $75,000 for copyright infringement.
As of Nov. James's estate were also requesting a jury trial.

Top 10 Things Men and Women Do that Destroy Relationships

Everyone is always talking about what people lack in relationships and why they don’t last, but what about the things people do consistently that destroy relationships. We found a list that gives 10 reasons that men and women will walk away and it does NOT include cheating.
Pop the Top and See if You Agree…
Top 5 Things Men Do that Destroy Relationships:
1. Not Answering the Phone:
When a man doesn’t answer the phone, especially at certain times of the day, it causes suspicion in a woman’s mind.

2. Walk Your Talk:

If a man says he is going to do something, then he needs to make sure that he does it. Don’t give empty promises.

3. Learn to say “I Don’t Know”:

When it comes to a man’s ego, they can’t stand to say “I DON’T KNOW!!!” Women can’t stand when a man thinks he knows EVERYTHING!!! It’s okay to “google it” if you don’t know.

4. Hogging the Remote:

When a man just takes complete control over the TV, it’s a simple sign that a man is not interested in the things that his woman likes. Watching sports is cool but not 24\7.

5. Bringing Up Weight:

A woman doesn’t need her man to constantly remind her that she needs to hit the gym. A woman realizes that she has gained a few pounds when the 1st pound hits. Also by a man always bringing up a woman’s weight, it makes it seem that all he cares about is the way she looks and not what she has to offer.

Top 5 Things Women Do to Destroy Relationships:

1. The “WHERE ARE YOU” question:

When a woman calls a man and the first thing she ask him is “WHERE ARE YOU???” That is annoying. If the woman is asking for a specific reason then that’s understandable but to ask a man who all the time shows that a woman doesn’t trust her man when he’s not with her.

2. The “Who You Talking To” question:

When a man is on the phone and this question is asked, men find this to be very rude. Asking this question co-insides with the above question, it shows that a woman doesn’t trust her man and makes a woman appear to be nosy.

3. Nagging:

When a woman starts nagging about nothing. If a man hasn’t done what you want him to do and you nag him about it, it’s really not going to get done once a woman starts nagging.

4. Holding a Grudge:

When a woman holds a grudge and then tries to bring up all the old stuff in a new argument, that drives a man crazy and makes him non-responsive.

5. Allowing a Man Time to Breathe:

Men need time by themselves, to be with friends and family. Men need to feel independent. When a woman doesn’t give a man time to himself then he feels suffocated.

Jesus Take The Wheel: Brooklyn Teen Gets Grill Slashed, Face Scarred Forever

This violence is getting way out of hand:
Every time a teen looks in the mirror, she will see the V-shaped scar – a permanent reminder of the violence that erupted near her grandmother’s Brooklyn home.
Shantayah Lewis, 17, sat in her room at Kings County Hospital Saturday, calmly reflecting on the Friday afternoon attack that left her with dozens of stitches in the left side of her face.

“My face is too beautiful to be fighting,” Shantayah told the Daily News. “Fighting is not the key. Violence is not the way.” Shantayah was walking with her 15-year-old cousin, Shakeena Grant, on Franklin Ave. near Lincoln Place in Crown Heights about 3:30 p.m. They were being tailed by a girl who is dating the ex-boyfriend of Shakeena’s sister, Shamaula. “She kept following us,” the injured teen said. “She wanted to fight.”

After a brief scuffle, the 17-year-old girl who had been following the cousins vowed to return. About 5 p.m. the girl came back with her boyfriend, the center of the beef. She then whipped out what witnesses said was a knife and started slashing. “She swung and started stabbing my face,” Shantayah said. “I didn’t know what to do.”
Shakeena, who was stabbed, was released from a hospital Saturday. The two girls somehow escaped and ran to the Union St. home of Shantayah’s grandmother, Cheryl Evans. The grandmother called 911 and the two girls were taken to Kings County Hospital. Though the wounded teens believed the boyfriend was holding them down, cops said he actually was trying to break up the attack. Police talked to the man, who said he was trying to help, and surveillance video backs up his claim, sources said.
Shantayah said the whole thing should never have happened. “Basically, [Shakeena] fought for her sister,” she said, referring to Shamaula, who used to date the attacker’s boyfriend. “She should not have done that. We should not have been involved.” The young girl responsible for the attack was still at large last night and no arrests have been made.
That poor girl’s face is permanently scarred for pure BS. We have to send more positive messages to our youth, this is ridiculous!!!

Being Black in the Work Place

They take my kindness for weakness.
They take my silence for speechless.
They consider my uniqueness strange.
They call my language slang.
They see my confidence as conceit.
They see my mistakes as defeat.
They consider my success accidental.
They minimize my intelligence to "potential".
My questions mean "I'm unaware".
My advancement is somehow unfair.
Any praise is preferential treatment.
To voice concern is discontentment.
If I stand up for myself, I'm too defensive.
If I don't trust them, I'm too apprehensive.
I'm defiant ! if I separate.
I'm fake if I assimilate.
Yet, constantly I am faced with work place hate.
My character is constantly under attack.
Pride for my race makes me, "TOO BLACK".
Yet, I can only be me. And, who am I you ask?
I am that Strong Black Person...

Meet Mr. Brown: David Mann Talks Transition Into TV

David Mann has come a long way since his days of singing with Kirk Franklin & The Family.
The 42-year-old singer/actor made a name for himself touring the country as "Downtown" Leroy Brown on the touring play circuit in various Tyler Perry productions like 'I Can Do Bad All By Myself,' 'Diary of a Mad Black Woman,' 'Diary of a Mad Black Woman' and 'What's Done In The Dark.'
Now Mann, along with his wife, gospel superstar Tamela Mann, is fronting a television series based off his infamous character Mr. Brown on the Perry-produced TBS sitcom, 'Meet the Browns.'
"First thing, all you can say is, wow! I think it's a wonderful thing," Mann offered, when I asked about the evolution of his career.
The Fort Worth, Texas-bred funnyman said the best part about doing this TV series is that Perry allows him and his wife to be true to their faith.
"Tyler allows us on the set to be who we are," he explained. "Everybody knows who we are, we're Christian. Sometimes they'll be like, 'Awe, they're saved.' But that's just who we are!"
The television series is the third medium for the 'Meet the Browns' franchise, which after the touring play was adapted into a feature film starring Angela Bassett and Rick Fox.
Mann, who has played this character since 1999, confessed that he's had to soften Mr. Brown's antics for the small screen, as his over-the-top nature on the theater stage doesn't always play well with TV viewers.
"I'm usually the one he has to pull to the side and he has to say, 'Okay, this is TV. Tone it down a little bit.' I'm grateful for the opportunity that we've have right here at this point. For me, I'm the southern church guy and I would have never thought I would have gotten these opportunities. I enjoy the freedom that Tyler gives us," he said.
The actor, who is featured alongside his wife on the new cover of Precious Times magazine, admitted that though he often performs comedic routines and appears to be a comedian while hosting shows as Mr. Brown; he isn't a standup comic and never performed any unscripted comedy prior to playing this role.
"I kind of had to do it because people started asking me to do it," he confessed. "I don't do standup comedy. Slowly hosting things, I developed a set. I would add a piece onto it and then I had a whole routine."
Mann has a musical parody CD out called 'Mr. Brown's Good Ol Time Church.'
'Meet the Browns' airs every Wed. at 10pm on TBS.

BeBe Booted: Oprah Winfrey Removes Winans From Her Talk Show

On the heels of receiving negative press a week ago, talk show titan Oprah Winfrey won't allow her friend, gospel singer BeBe Winans to host her Karaoke Challenge on her daytime talk show. Winfrey was accused of having "double standards" last week after TMZ reported how the media mogul publicly rebuked R&B star Chris Brown for his domestic dispute with singer Rihanna, but had longtime friend Winans on her show to promote his new CD with sister CeCe Winans.

BeBe & CeCe appeared on 'Oprah' on Friday, Oct. 23 and performed a new song called 'Grace.' After the performance, Winfrey announced: "You'll be seeing more of BeBe in my Karaoke Challenge later this season."
Winfrey rep Don Halcombe has now announced that Winans is off the karaoke segment and that the singer will not appear on her talk show until his domestic violence charges are resolved.

Winans previously served as a judge for two seasons of the BET reality show 'Sunday Best,' which is a gospel music take on 'American Idol.'
It was announced this week that the Grammy-winning Christian crooner would not return for a third season of the show because of his new gig on Winfrey's talk show. (Winans is being replaced on 'Sunday Best' by another Winfrey favorite, gospel singer Donnie McClurkin.)
After more than a 15-year hiatus from recording together, Winans reunited with his sister CeCe and released their latest album 'Still' on Oct. 6. The CD debuted at number one on the Billboard Gospel Chart and according to SoundScan, had sold an impressive 92,808 units in five weeks.
Winans' ex-wife Debra Winans talks about her domestic violence ordeal with the gospel veteran in an upcoming interview with singer Lexi for The Word Network's 'The Lexi Show.'

Holy Hypocrisy: Christian Label Suspends Rapper for Extramarital Affair

After the music site DaGospelTruth.com revealed that several gospel artists were having extramarital affairs, Christian record label Cross Movement Records (CMR) announced that it had suspended rapper Da T.R.U.T.H. (whose real name is Emanuel L. Lambert, Jr.).

(For details on the scandal, read 'Love Triangle Takes on a Whole New Meaning! The Story Unfolds About Tye Tribbett & Da T.R.U.T.H.')

The Philadelphia-bred rapper's alleged extramarital affair with the wife of his friend and fellow gospel singer had been the topic of discussion on the gospel rumor mill for several weeks before the Grammy nominee announced his hiatus from the industry.

Da T.R.U.T.H. essentially confirmed the speculation when he posted a statement on his personal Web site, www.DaTruth.net, announcing that he was taking "a sabbatical from music ministry and teaching" due to a "moral indiscretion" in his "personal life."

CMR has now released a statement announcing that the strict Bible-based music label will not permanently sever ties with Da T.R.UT.H. but would temporarily institute a "suspension of the promotion and forwarding of" of the two-time Stellar Award winner.

The statement continued: "While obedience to the Word of God is the high standard for all who name the name of Christ, for the Christian leader, the standards and the consequences are even greater. We at CMR plead for your prayers for our brother Da Truth whom we sincerely love. We also ask for your prayers for his wife, his family, his Pastor, his Elders and Church during this very hard time in their lives. In addition, we both thank and applaud Da Truth for his letter of confession found on his site, as well as ours. We declare that in Da Truth's case, in light of all the circumstances, in light of the authoritative stand by which he preached, and in the case of the Christian leader, this should be the commendable example of the responsible servant."

No word from CMR or Da T.R.U.T.H. on how long the "suspension" or "sabbatical" will be.

Da T.R.U.T.H., who has taken a very public stance against non-Christian music artists – unaffectionately called "secular artists" by churchgoers -- is not the first rapper to come under fire from CMR for alleged adultery.

The label dropped rapper The Ambassador back in May and then posted a statement explaining why to fans.

"It is with much grief, severe disappointment and an overwhelming fear of the Lord that Cross Movement Records is sad to announce that we will be discontinuing the forwarding and promotion of the Artist and Minister, The Ambassador AKA William "Duce" Branch, due to recent findings of moral failure in his marriage. It is CMR's past, current and prayerfully, future position that living in moral compromise is unacceptable and never allowable in the lives of any of the ministers that we co-labor with. We continue to hold up the teachings of Christ as the standard for all Christians and especially those in Christian leadership and public ministry. Although it is a rare find these days, discipline is still one of the true marks of the true Church."

Do you think the label should have suspended Da T.R.U.T.H.?

Atheist College Students Calls Bible "Smut" and Holds Rallies to Exchange Them for Porn Mags

Students at a Texas college campus are locking horns, after a group of atheists decided to form a "Smut for Smut" campaign. The anti-God group are rallying students to trade in their religious books and materials for pornography.

PO Soul Radio News Brief

Atheist Agenda leaders at the University of Texas, San Antonio, are waging an all-out battle against everything that represents God. They have gathered their atheist troops and have put out a call to all fellow students older than the age of 18 to surrender their Bibles, Qur'ans, Books of Mormon,Torahs - anything pertaining to God - for a "fair exchange" in pornographic books. The group claims that porn is "no worse than what's written in religious-based texts."
College officials have not tried to stop the anti-religious rabble-rousers because as long as "they are not violating any laws or violating the constitution, they have the freedom of speech and assembly."

The campus is literally divided three ways, regarding this heated debate. You have those who support Atheist Agenda, those who are pro-religion and the neutral ground students, who state, everyone has a right to their opinion but the issue is just "fostering hate throughout the campus."

This year marks the 40th time Atheist Agenda have organized the event.

Is what you eat, just a slogan, or is it the truth?

You are what you eat, its not just a slogan, its the truth. We feed ourselves negative images, lyrics, prospectives and the facts that being a baby boy is acceptable. Time to grow up. Stop blaming White People and hold our selves resposible. Nobody told you to make that song or put her in your videos like that. If this is what was the white mans doing, then his job is well done and we are just as stupid as they said we were.
